Block/tile Art
With 37 years of decorative painting behind me, I had many Masonite sample boards all around. Paints, glazes and metallics were included in the mix of multiple application techniques I‘d developed over the years. I cut them into small block tiles and some into strips to create borders for the pieces. I painted backrounds on other Masonite sections and glued the blocks on them to express my ideas and thoughts
shower series
I believe that art should always have movement. I developed the Shower Series to use water and the flow of the human body to create that movement. I especially enjoy using brown paper for the background medium. Certain paints will soak into the paper and others sit on top to create more contrast and emphasis. It also has a very earthy feel to ground the painting.
abstracts
I am in an experimental stage with the abstract pieces. I rather like using the brown paper for them for basically the same reason I use it in the Shower Series. Thinner paints are more matte and soft, while the full strength acrylics are bold and create contrast to grab the eye.
AlansonArt/Photo
These pieces with AlansonArt as the signature, are photo based works. They are a combination of original art and photos. Using unorthodox applications of multiple filters and overlays. There is no formula or rules in their creation. The media is worked and manipulated until it happens.
